Default An Italian plane on a Suffolk beach 1940

Hi

The picture says it's a crashed Italian plane at Orford Ness in 1940

Yup. It's not widely known, but Italy did contribute to the Battle of Britain, sending almost 200 aircraft! Nice photo

Another great image from 1940- men of XX The Lancashire Fusiliers tucking in to the crew's inflight picnic. I doubt if the bottle of vino was handed in to the authorities!

The Fiat is now with the RAF Museum, it took a bullet in a fuel line and force landed. Somehow it survived the war and was until recently on display at Hendon, not sure where it is now
