Default XX1V

Hello All, could I have some help in identifying this XX1V (collar badge ?) please. The size is approximately 2mm bigger than a 1 pound coin.

Interesting, I didn't realise that clutch pin fittings were in use on British army insignia as early as 1969 (I first noticed them in the mid - late 1970's).

I dare say you would want more than a pound coin for it?

Officers wore their usual collars upon SD, but, Home Service Full Dress was withdrawn in September 1914, with the result that the rank and file had no collar badges to wear for the duration, they were not normally worn on SD, notwithstanding, I dare say you might have encountered odd NCO's who had managed to retain them for wear whilst at their depot.

Thanks for that. I have acquired a set which look like small badges of that period. Any idea what period they would be ?

No idea without a photograph, perhaps, starting a new thread with one would be the way to go.

Medals, badges and ephemera relating to my Grandfather who enlisted in 1906. A Londoner from the Euston Road / St Pancras area and born in 1888 I do not know why he was in a Welsh Regiment but he served with 1 SWB in Hyderabad, Quetta, Chatham and Bordon prior to WW1. Landed in France 13 August 1914 when 1 SWB were in 3 Infantry Brigade of the 1st Division of the BEF. He was wounded in November 1914 and again in December 1917 and spent the latter part of the war with 3 SWB training recruits at Sniggery Woods Camp, Hightown near Liverpool.
