RAF Silver War Badge
Is there any way to search the recipient of an RAF Silver War Badge from the serial number on the badge?

Royal Flying Corps SWB rolls are on Ancestry under UK, Silver War Badge Records 1914-1920, and RNAS SWB rolls are on Ancestry under UK, Naval Medal and Award Rolls 1793-1972.
There doesn't appear to be one for the RAF either on Ancestry or Discovery at the National Archives. If you don't get an answer here try the British Medals Forum. David. |

Thanks David. You have correctly identified my frustration! I just cannot understand why everything else seems to have been digitised and is available, but the RAF roll just does not seem to be accessible at all. I wonder if it has survived.

There is only one surviving roll available for the RAF Silver War Badges and that is in Air2 it covers badge number 9426 to 9492. However, after years of research, I can now identify about 9100 out of the 11050 badges. Let me know the number and I may be able to help.

Sorry to jump in here but may I ask kindly to check SWB to "RAF391" as well if you have anything on him/her?
Thanks!

Sorry for not noticing this post earlier. I am afraid that this is a badge, RAF391, was in a batch (badges 201 to 450) that were issued to Officers, WRAF and Civilians and, as such, they don't seem to be registered in their personal records. Steve |
