Default Tayforth UOTC Piper's Sporran Badge?

Am I right in thinking this is a Tayforth UOTC sporran badge worn by pipers, or possibly all cadets, from A Squadron/St Andrew's University and that the King's Crown is correct for a modern badge? It's a nice strike, but quite light weight and looks of modern construction, 42mm high x 32mm wide. If it is a sporran badge, it falls outside my collecting interest and will be moved on. All the best, Mike

I found this sporran sale on Worth Point which shows the King's crown badge badge apparently worn on a 1994 sporran https://www.worthpoint.com/worthoped...ity-1778691754

Probably the best pic I could find of the badge in wear, but not quite high enough res to confirm the King's Crown. Sorry about the massive web address, but I guess it's better than just pinching the pic and posting it.

They wear the same design in the collar . Not 100% whether its all the OTC or just the pipers. So your badge is ok. The length of the lugs and positioning says sporran to me.
The KC for this OTC is correct even to the present day.

I dont recall ever seeing a QC St Andrews OTC badge.

Hi Mike. Thanks for confirming that. I too can't find a pic of any St Andrew's Uni badge with a QC. "Tayforth UOTC Pipes and Drums" actually have their own facebook page and although there is never a photo quite detailed enough to confirm it, all the St Andrew's sporran badges look like King's Crowns. https://www.facebook.com/TayforthUOTCPD Mike

Although, just for interest and reference, it looks like the buttons managed to make it to a Queen's Crown!
