Unusual French button Etat Major des Places. Alsace
I cannot find anything about this button on the internet except that it differs from the standard Etat Major des Places buttons used by the French Army in the 19th century.
Furthermore it has a Prussian crown and an eagle and flags. I am wondering if it might actually date from around 1871- 1918 when the Prussians/Germans were in possession of the Alsace region. |

You have a very rare Napoleonic button, 1st empire, 1804-1813 & 100 days. It is slightly different from the buttons displayed in Fallou, page 9.

Btns,
many thanks indeed. I was taking an educated guess thinking that the crown was Prussian. I am absolutely delighted that the button is Napoleonic. Simon. |
