Seems likely to have been a VTC unit mufti badge, short-lived perhaps?
I wouldn't say it was the City of London Rifles. Not only was that a battalion of the London Regiment, but your badge has nothing on it to suggest or indicate any London connection. What is the device top/centre... is it a fleur-de-lis? Roseoftheshires Badge.jpg JT |

Yes it is a Fleur De Lis JT. From the badge fixing I would say it is possibly WW1 vintage.

There must have been numerous 'City Rifle Corps' units throughout the country over the years prior and leading up to periods of conflict. Would the fleur-de-lis be indicative of any particular location... Manchester, perhaps?
Not necessarily any connection, but just a bit of further info: TMT 1861.jpg 1876 Directory.jpg JT |
