Hello
From the back I would date this one to late 18th/early 19th centuries. I can't quite make out the backmark which might help narrow the date down a little. As for identification, no idea, sorry! So many units around this time (Militia, Fencibles, volunteers and so on, Welsh, Scottish and others) used the Prince of Wales's feathers as a device. Most had the PoW feathers and some initials which makes ID that little bit easier but without any initials or other clue it may well be impossible to identify. It may not even be military but an early livery button. Roger |

Hi JJ2,
I'm afraid I can't add too much more. However could the 'T' be an 'I'? if so it is possible the maker is I Nutting? See photograph of that back mark. Cheerio, Roy

One option I have is T. Billing
Bosleys' stated that this name was on a Leitrim Militia button they sold. The 'old military buttons' website has it on a 79th foot button (1794-1804) http://asahelena.wixsite.com/militar...0-regt-of-foot Last edited by btns; 13-08-18 at 05:24 PM. Reason: added links |
