BLACKENED BADGES
Hi, a quick question. Is there evidence or use of blackened bi-metal badges. I thought this was only really done to brass or white metal for the volunteers, TF etc.
Thanks Simon. |

It was common practice in TA Regiments to have a second badge for "tactical" use...... normally an A/A badge painted dark brown or black. I also have a bi-metal, from the late 1960s, that has been painted bronze brown on the face of the badge ...... but not the back of the badge.

Hi Simon
I have a Bi-metal Devon which appears to be blackened on the back. [IMG][/IMG] |

Thanks for the quick response chaps. I've seen an Essex badge which is a bi-metal and blackened. The sweat holes though are round and looked drilled. I think maybe someone trying to make a fake look like a TF. Slider looks too modern also.
Thanks again. Regards Simon. |
