Default I know.

They each bear the letter "S", the 19th letter of the alphabet. One is fancier than the other. There, you didn't stump the panel.

I believe the German SS had a white "S" on black diamond sleeve badge worn by vehicle maintenance NCOs, so wrong colour and I would imagine wrong fabric unless economy measures prevailed.
I checked my only reference on such insignia, "Badges & Insignia of the Third Reich 1933 - 1945" by Brian Leigh Davis and it's not shown.
So unlikely I'm talking about anything to help ID these two badges.

Something is niggling at me, my brain is saying German naval/marine/merchant navy patches.

German was my first thought for these. The SD (SicherheitsDienst) wore triangular sleeve badges
