Default British Army Headdress 1939-1945

The Military Historical Society has just published its annual special bulletin with the title in the heading. I have to declare an interest as I am the author.

Illustrated with numerous photographs of headress being worn alongside colour illustrations of actual examples, its 95 pages tell the story of the introduction and evolution of the British Army's headgear from the relatively few variations that existed in 1939 through to the numerous hats and helmets introduced as a result of wartime experience.

To buy a copy go to the Society's website at: https://www.militaryhistoricalsociety.co.uk/

Then click on Shop - Bulletins and scroll to the bottom of the list to order.

All proceeds go to the Society.

More images to follow shortly.

Is it possible to buy as an e-book? I am afraid that customs would ask me for another 20-25£ if I receive it by postal service...

I'll investigate. The decision will rest with the Society.

Members of the Military Historical Society should receive a copy with their November Bulletin.

I look forward to receipt of mine in the post then. I am at a loss to understand why more members of this forum are not members.

I think it is because, like me, "I will get around to it" and it is only once in, you see what you were missing. It was the same for me with the 'Formation Sign'.

I received mine today and have had a quick scan; although I'm not a collector of Headdress, I suspect that it will be a very beneficial and educational read for those who have.

For the amount of research and knowledge that it contains Jon must be congratulated.

I shall be having a more in depth read later.

Regards.

Brian
