Default Information Wanted

I'm after information on the badges shown below; type of badge, period of use, country used, rarity etc. I have detected a couple of these and the others I've come across over time.
Thanks in advance.

1. Radio operator Australian 1930-42, oxidised for wartime;
2. Australian Wide Bay Regt 1903-12
3. British Army Air Corps WW2 (is this metal or plastic?)
4. Warrant Officer 2 sleeve rank 1930-42
5. Offficer rank pip British & Aust oxidised for WW2
6. Major rank " " " " "
A crown with a pip was a Lieut Colonel
Most are fairly common as rank badges were worn in UK and around the empire, not sure how rare the AAC might be. I really like the Wide Bay badge, the earliest and the best. For some reason a lot of early Queensland badges were small.

Thanks Kingsley.
The AAC badge is metal.
Incidentally, there were two crowns and two pips found together (among other stuff) in a jar under an old home that was demolished. Based on your information, that suggests they once belonged to someone who held the rank Lieut Colonel.

I'm not sure what that means. Is it a reproduction?

Thanks Alan. I'll toss it the bin as I hate repro's created to fool collectors. Incidentally, I was given this badge so no great loss.

By pure chance I have since noticed the 'Reproductions, restrikes, fakes ..etc' post and spent some time reading. I noted that there are many fakes that bear the name Marples and Beasley Birmingham including AAC badges. The AAC badge I have doesn't have a name on the slider. I don't want to inadvertently toss a genuine badge in the rubbish bin. Had you assumed my badge carried the Marples Beasley mark or is it blatantly obvious it's a fake from some other identifying feature?

I would be interested in the Wide Bay badge if you intend to move it on. Send me a Personal Message.

The die that it is made from is a modern fake.

Default Why bin it?

Why not write FAKE on the back in permanent pen and give it to a kid.
The RBL or something
I use my fakes for kids at armed forces day events or for the 50p lucky dip to raise funds for the Legion etc

Fair enough but it's too late - my bin was collected this morning. That said, I really hate fakes of any sort. Their existence discourages collecting as existing and potential collectors become disillusioned wondering what's genuine and what's not. At least no-one can later try to pass the badge off as genuine.
