Default kings Own Scottish Borderers

Hi
I wondered if anyone could help me with a kings crown cap badge for the K.O.S.B that I've come across.
It's different from the others I've seen as it is voided beneath the word own and also where the two leaves meet the crown at the top.
Does this signify a particular date or manufacturer? Any info would be much appreciated.
Rich

A partially voided NCO or officers pattern badge copy, sold as other ranks badge, avoid.

Rgds, Thomas.
