Some more detailed photos to compare.

I am a little confused. I was under the impression these badges were always " unofficial " and cast in the dessert by troops who had pattern making/casting skills - a form of trench art if you like. I see on the internet a number of precise die struck examples of a high standard of manufacture. Did this badge become an issued Corps badge?

I remember being shown an original as a child and remember how rough it looked in comparison to issued badges. Can you direct me to an area on the internet that may show full light on this badge/subject.
