Interesting that the book - admittedly about "Members of the Canadian Military..." - doesn't mention either of the two pre-Confederation Canadian VCs - Lt. Alexander Dunn, who won his with the Light Brigade in the Crimea and captain of the Foretop William Hall, a Black Canadian from Nova Scotia, who earned it manning a gun during the Siege of Delhi (Indian Mutiny).

I have seen William Hall's medals in Halifax Nova Scotia and he is buried in Hansport truly a man who done his province proud.

When I went through the CF Recruit School at CFB Cornwallis, our PT classes were held in The William Hall Gymnasium. A nice touch when one considers that the RCN and the Province of Nova Scotia, consistent with their times, were not what we would now call "progressive".
