Default Help with East Surrey Cap Badge Please

Can someone help me with this East Surrey Cap Badge please?
It is Bi Metal, but the Castle and Imp Crown are Bronze/Brass. I cant seem to find this combination.
Is it a variant or just another Fake?
TIA

Genuine but incorrectly made circa WW1 with the obsolete crown from the pre 1901 style coronet.

Strangely, no overlay appears to have ever been applied. A very crude badge elsewise as well.

On close inspection under a glass, there does not appear to have ever been an overlay. It looks like the finished article??
No sweat hole or signs of Solder.

They’re just WW1 bodge jobs. Some have braze holes some don’t. Similar to the slidered Regimental castle Northants.
