Ampersands... open and closed...
An interesting variation in the Lincoln and Welland coloured shoulder title. The ampersand is found in both the "closed" pattern and in an "open" pattern.
Both titles patterns date to the Second World War. The printed Lincoln and Welland and the starch back pattern, both Second World War titles, use the closed ampersand. The open ampersand pattern was likely an early title made in Canada.
