What must be an unusual photo with a pencil date of Christmas 1941.

The collar dogs are clearly those of the regiment and he also has brass titles on his shoulder chains and 25th Dgns regimental buttons.

The presence of two good conduct stripes suggests he was probably one of the 102 Other Ranks that joined the new regiment from the 3rd Dragoon Guards.

Looking at that you would not think there was a war on, a very nice portrait.

I might guess that along with possibly coming from the 3rd DG, he must have retained his pre war set of blue patrols and changed the badges to his new regiment.
I would certainly doubt that this uniform was in issue and available to the newly raised 25th in 1941.
