Default Commando? SF? SOE?

I have picked up a few small snap shots of this chap, mostly in similar dress but a couple in KD and look to be taken in the Far East. Cap badge looks like General Service, first two medal ribbons look like 39-45 and Africa Stars but not sure on the third. Anyone have any ideas?

Could be the 1939-45 British War Medal?

Lee. He looks vaguely familiar - the image I have in mind shows him armed with an M3 (?) "Grease Gun" posing with a group of Italian partisans. I'll try and find it (but don't hold your breath!)

Nice photo.

Third medal ribbon could be the General Service Medal. However shown last this would indicate post ww2 service, for example Cyprus or Malaya?

The General Service cap badge was frequently used by Brits in SOE.

The chap looks familiar, I will look in my SOE books to see if I can find him and get back to you.

Granted, but I'll bet he was up to his arms in dirt in a forest for months on end, somewhere a long way from Horseguards!

Why do you think he might be SF? Is it because of his scruffy dress? Or are there other clues?

Eddie
