Darrang Military Police
Hi,
Many thanks for all your answers!! I've found 2 marks of makers on this badge. I join 2 photos of these makers. This badge has been found in France. Is it possible that's men of this battalion came in France in 1914/18 and kept their old badge? Kind Regards Luidgi |

Hi Luidgi,
As I mentioned the Darrang Military Police battalion badge was worn 1913-1915. Between 1914-1917, 5 officers and and 149 men were sent from this unit (and what it became, 4th Bn Assam Rifles) as reinforcements to Regular Gurkha army units. So if found in or near a WWI battle field it is lilely that it came from one of these men circa 1914-16. They were sent to france wearing their original uniforms, some were rebadged some not. It may be possible to narrow down the unit that they were sent to from where it was found. a nice badge. regards Steve |
