Default Twenty pence worth

Ray, I am absolutely fine thanks and yes, your eye for a valuable item has once more proved to be working.
Apart from the twenty pence piece (some of the more wealthy use a pound coin for comparison) any idea on the title?

Regards Rob

Smile 49th (West Riding) Infantry Div.

I am reliably informed that the large white metal rose with a screw back fixing is the 49th (West Riding) Infantry Division of the Great War.

The white metal rose was also worn by the 49th Division between the wars and by some of its soldiers during the Second World War.

Cool 49th Div WWII

Jon, I believe the WWII version was smaller and on a black background.

The rose worn in wartime. Looks quite large to me.

Default 3 unknowns- 49 Div metal rose FS

Reopening an old wound...

I am guessing that authority for introduction of the rose was given 13.08.24. ACI 487 as the Gt War Division had worn a cloth white rose.

My question is, was the WM rose only worn by the Yorkshire elements of 49 Division prior to 1939, or was it worn by the whole Division, thereby including units raised in Lincolnshire etc. when the Division was reformed post-1938

Not withstanding Jon's picture, I wonder, was the demise of the metal badge actually caused by wartime metal restrictions?

Stephen.

Was the meatal badge provided by the army or worn unofficially? I'd think its demise was because the polar bear seemed more suitable at the time.
