Gloucestershire Police Silver Braid Bravery Award
Seeking any information and images of the Gloucestershire Police Silver Braid Bravery Award.
This took the approximate shape and size of a single full size medal ribbon bar and was initiated in about 1919 to recognize acts of bravery by Gloucestershire Police. It was worn on the right tunic breast. It was issued for quite a number of years to many police officers. Details of its construction etc are not clearly known. Hope you can help! There is a Gloucestershire Police Archives website with a section on the Silver Braid Award for bravery - see https://gloucestershirepolicearchive...-braid-gallery Looking at the photos there, especially the last one, of PC 276 Victor Isaac James and the one of PC 306 Charles Stafford Gowing, it seems to be a piece of silver braid stitched directly onto the right side of the tunic. You might get more info by contacting them via the site. The last time it was awarded was in 1955. Good luck! Clive

That site is confusing
 In the "Silver Braid Gallery" there are photos of recipients from 1918 and 1920 yet on the "Bravery Awards" page it states : "On 5th April 1921 the first officer to be awarded the Silver Braid and £2 was Police Constable George Stevens. The award was for gallant conduct when stopping a runaway horse."
