Hi Mike,

It looks okay to me. I have 3 variations in my collection of this design. The one is the same as this.

I also have a box of fakes that are all items I bought in good faith. There are 3 of this design in there. I keep them for comparrison and to remind me to be more careful when I buy.

Have a grand day.

Andrew
P.S. It was a South African raised unit for the Boer War and continued a few years after the war as a volunteer unit in SA.

Like Andrew, I think that it is fine. It has the right loops and the detail looks good.

Both the 1st and 2nd regiments of Kitchener's Fighting Scouts were raised on the 23rd of November 1900 in Pretoria as a specialist anti commando corps, having done some very hard fighting, in particular, in the Northern Transvaal in those final and certainly most brutal months, they were actually disbanded, in Johannesburg on the 7th of July 1902.

When the Transvaal Volunteer Force was raised after the Anglo Boer War, another regiment of the same name existed for a few months, but, it's name was just so provocative and contentious, that it had to be, almost immediately, disbanded, moreover, it's badges are the rarest of that small force and are only very seldom encountered these days.

This thread is certainly in the wrong section!

I'd be interested in seeing the fakes as well. I bought a slouch hat badge back in 2008 for the KFS but wasn't a forum member. It is the same measurements as the original post, has the same style loops, though it looks like mine was blacked at some point.

Also a side note I'm not sure where to actually post this question so I figured this feed might be appropriate?

That looks okay from the photographs, I think the best place to post is in the South African section.
