Hi Jim,
nice little batch of badges there. All look to be genuine ,at a glance !!
Top Left ....New Zealand WW1 Type (Top scroll also found as N.Z only) very common ( in NZ anyway ) seems to have the usual 3 lugs back fixings?
Top Right ......Pre WW1 UK , West Riding Artillery ............very,very ,rare !(it's nice to see an origional one of these ,thanks !) Can we see a back pic here, sometime ?
Bottom........14 leaves & 'flared' trail end , would say Canadian Territorial Artillery here ! Back pic of this one too please, sometime ?

Cheers !
Steve

Steve... Here is a look at the backs as per your reqest... the NZ has a 3 lug setup... you indicated that's normal for this badge... is it right..

Jim,
indeed that is correct for the NZ badge here.
The Canadian one is interesting also ,as that type with the 'Flared' (widened)bottom end on the carriage trail is a particular Canadian manufacturer's style. Anyone aware of this maker's ID ?

Cheers !
Steve

As of a few days ago all gun badges looked the same to me... now I'm starting to see the differences... if you could let me know what i have in this lot I'd appreciate it. Some of the badges are showing the notch and now I'm not to sure of them.. thanks

Frenchy,
have only seen British badges with 10 & 12 leaves on them.? (As in all other books also ,except Cox's ,& in collections, so far.)
This is not to say that some varieties may have had 14 leaves ?
But I have seen 14 leaves on Canadian varieties B4 ,as with Jim's 1st Pic.
The one in Cox's(many other discrepencies there also) book may even be a Canadian example ,as may yours be ,also ?
Hard to know, maybe the Canadian collectors can help with this ?

Cheers !
Steve

Jim,
something has been nagging at me about that West Riding badge in your 1st Pic.
Suddenly the penny has dropped........ this is not the normal variety at all !!!
Usual is fully spelt as 'West Riding' top & 'Royal Horse Artillery ' below.
Yours reads.... 'W.Riding' top & "Quo Fas,etc.' below. Strange indeed & possibly even rarer than normal ? Sorry, but I do not know the answer here, as have not seen that type B4.
But many thanks for showing it, indeed & hope someone else has an answer on it !
(Could you do a special larger, clearer Pic of front & back, just for that one? )

Cheers !
Steve

PS : will look over 2nd pic at the week-end, but at a glance the central ones ,at least, look to be Canadian ,with the large Cascabel at the back of the barrel & heavy border on the bottom scroll. These ones are WW2 types ,usually with only 2 lugs ,wide spaced on the bottom scroll . Yes??

Frenchy,
I think you were right the 1st time, 14 leaves on Cox's Pic,the single leaf at the very end is just a little difficult to see .
But check pics in any other books you may have . Gaylor K&K,etc. Also pics ,early on in this thead.

Cheers !
Steve

Frenchy,
K&K .... 1st pic=10 ,2nd=12
14.... maybe just another variation ? Worth keeping while you find the others !
On page 2 of this topic, I've pictured a 10, that has berries on it as well. This may be common to all 10's though ?

Cheers!
Steve

I know that 2 of the heavy ones are canadian as thet are marked Scully on the back... I'll try and take a closeup of the West Riding today but as my camera skills aren't the greatest you may have to be patient... I checked the West Riding scroll and it's broken off on one side and is hanging on by a thread on the other.... but still looks to be original to me... thanks Jim
