I cant see them being a problem. Their hallmarked so you can find out who made them. Their collar badges.

The first photo is of the collar badges and the next two are of the cap badge, my concern was whether they are cast badges from an original Hallmarked badges?

Gold and silversmiths repro/fakes were on sale at Farnham about 5 years ago, not keen on these myself.

Hi Ronions
There have definitely been threads on here in the past concerning the small MGC silver badge with both the B&P and G&S 112 Regent St marks. A confrontational prior member and silver collector now banned, Silver Tourist, was quite scathing in his opinion of a similar badge that was listed on eBay a few years ago. His opinion being the mm's and hallmarks were not stamped but cast from an original. Thus a fake. Unfortunately I think all the photo references being linked to eBay have long since disappeared, but it might be worth trying to use the search engine. I probably have not helped you, but I understand your concern. Hopefully a collector with better experience of how the marks should look when stamped v cast will comment. On balance not looking good. Yes, I would say so.

Probable. Match the cap badge to this one by G&S (Goldsmiths and Silvesmiths) , which looks much better. The badge in question has very shallow hallmarks that are not clear, rough edges to the reverse of the crown, and no small loops below the receivers.

Wow their good, very smooth to the more common rough castings we normally see. IMHO.

i agree
ive had a set of these and they are not like the genuine article. smoother finish on the front, rougher looking to the rear and the maker mark and hallmark definitely not stamped. the other thing that stands out to me is that the lugs look like they have been cast at the same time and not added later. anyway, just my thoughts bc |

They've been as good as this for many years, it's just people don't know what to look for or fefuse believe they aren't real after paying a good price for them, a cast all in one motor volunteer badge with blades was sold just about Christmas 2019 by one of the sites run by a top Premier dealer and an obvious school boy fake an no one's going to question it from them are they.

I have 2 genuine ones and then bought another on eBay several years ago and when it arrived, it was obvious it was a cast copy with indistinct hallmarks and poor detail. I returned it to sender asking him to destroy it and he refunded me without question. I later saw another one at Aldershot Military Fair. The genuine G&S ones are very sharp in detail and beautifully made. Denis
