Speaking fro myself..hard to say..this looks cast..

Lots of Calcutta Scottish badges coming up on ebay off and on so becoming difficult to tell..I for one always worry when a badge looks too clean and too new though ofcourse some 100 year old badges are still found in excellent condition

Hi Khyber
Thanks. Yes, it is cast but I have no idea what the quality of badges were for this unit. Despite it being cast, it seems quite good quality and made from 3 separate pieces which are pinned through to hold them together, the pins are visible on the back.
Cheers,
Alex

Calcutta Scottish badges were well made and good quality.

that badge is a modern cast copy, probably of an officers silver badge.
It has all the hallmarks to the rear that scream to me, modern.

regards

Just from the photographs, I would think it is not.
