Royal Regiment of Gloucestershire and Hampshire
Collectors will be familiar with the availability of cap badges, titles and buttons manufactured for the amalgamation of the Gloucestershire Regiment and Royal Hampshire Regiment intended to take place in 1970 but subsequently cancelled following a change of government.
This pattern card is from the Imperial War Museum British Army badges collection assembled in 1969-1970. It shows that the collar badges (although only one is on the card) were to be a silver anodised tiger of the pattern worn by the Gordon Highlanders. However, it has also been suggested that the gold anodised rose in wreath pattern of the Royal Hampshires would be worn. Does any member have any further information? Tim

I have Gordon's tigers on my board for ORs collars. The Officers collars were going to be bullion Tigers.
The info for this was provided to me by Ginger who was involved with writing the book on Glosters insignia. Does anybody have a spare or would be willing to sell me the Officers bullion beret badge to RRGH ?

Mike, I think that the RRGH officer bullion badge is as rare as hen's teeth.
A couple of years back I saw a RRGH badge being sold in Australia as a "Blazer badge" so I brought it. When it arrived it was the badge you are looking for, the RRGH Officer bullion. This has been the only one I have ever seen and sorry NOT for sale. Jerry

I have not seen an officer’s bullion beret badge before but I do have the gilt and enamel cap badge which is not of the highest quality!

Here are my few RRGH badges, 3 x A/A (2 maker named, 1 no maker), 2 officer badges ( 1 I think is unfinished) and the bullion badge.

Nothing to do with much, but in 1978 I was loitering at Ebrington Barracks, 'Derry for a while.
There was a RCoS Signaler there who showed me an anod. al. Royal Gloucestershire and Hampshire Regiment cap badge, he said that his father had been in 1st Bn Glosters and that the badge was his and that they'd actually been issued in preparation for the amalgamation.

A strange entry in the Catalogue of Ordnance Stores and Ammunition (COSA) dated April 1984 in Section CB Badge Organisation Arm/Shoulder ACF.
NSN 8455-99-935-1415 Royal Regiment of Gloucestershire and Hampshire Embroidered Red on white Probably an error carried forward through various editions of the COSA fro 1970! Was it (to be) a red on white title perhaps reading ‘RRGH’ or just ‘ACF’? Tim Anyone got one???
