QX 27913 Sig RW Cooke 1 Aust Line Sect
My Father in Law and Mother in Law (101138 ACW Miriam Hawkins RAAF, 131 Radar Unit, Ash Island NSW) on their wedding day 3 March 1944. On leave from his unit in New Guinea where he was serving in 1 Aust Line Section, Aust Corps of Signals. The hand coloured patch is that of 1 Aust Corps Signals (I believe). Mike

Thanks Mike for posting, a great picture. Are the crossed flags metal or sewn on?
Thanks again, Phil. |

Metal - cropped from the image are two service chevrons (?) on the right forearm. Total service was 1421 days of which 708 were in Australia and 660 were outside Australia - in New Guinea and on Moratai. That does not add up - so the balance of 53 days was where? In transit by rail and sea - or in detention perhaps? Mike
