Default VR pouch badge with rose, thistle and clover leaf

Hi all,

I have had this badge a while and thought it just a general issue QVC WM pouch badge from the screw posts with VR cypher but having a closer look I know the background is a nice woven pattern of I think the English rose, Scottish thistle and Irish clover leaf motifs. 45x35mm.

Is is more than I think it is?

Cheers Dean

Dean,

I think we have discussed wreaths made up of roses, thistles and clover leaves in the past but in the context of buttons and I seem to recall that a lot of early Railway Company buttons incorporated that sort of mixed foliage wreath.

Sorry I cannot be more helpful in respect of your badge.

Peter

I wonder if there might be a clue in post # 11 of this thread:

Many thanks Peter,

Food for thought in the mix:

'Quite a lot of London organisations have the thistle, rose and shamrock wreath. Examples are:
- British Museum
- Middlesex Rifle Volunteers, 11th and 20th
- London & Birmingham Railway

and Irish:
- 124th Sligo Militia
- Waterford & Limerick Railway'

I had looked at some of the Irish militia and volunteer badges with clover leaf pattern wreaths in K&K, cheers Dean

I'm pretty sure this is a pouch badge for the 46th Middlesex RV.

Haha, thanks Peter.

I believe lot 204 at Bosleys, 6/3/13 describes this badge but without any photo.

It says the 46th (London & Westminster) RVC Victorian officer's pouch badge was a crowned union wreath with the VR cypher in the centre. I believe I saw the photo to identify it in another Bosleys catalogue but cannot tell you which one without digging through them all again.

MJR.
