unknown Royal Navy uniform buttons
These Royal Navy buttons came from a thrift shop in Portsmouth. They belonged to an officer who served during the reigns of King George VI and Queen Elisabeth II.
The top RHS buttons have unusual designs and must have a royal connection. The EIIR cypher button was once sold on e-bay as a "Royal Yacht Brittannia" button. If they are Royal Yacht buttons, then the Geo VI button may have been used on Victoria & Albert (iii) 1901-1937. Do you know who used these buttons? |

Ni idea about the cypher buttons but the sliver/gilt buttons with the naval coronet on are officer's blazer buttons. The plain chromed button with the coronet is an odd one too, never seen that before either.

I don't know who used the cypher buttons but I do know they weren't worn by officers serving on Royal Yachts. All officers serving on the Royal Yachts were Royal Navy officers and therefore wore standard Royal Navy buttons.
