Default 1st Armoured Motor Battery - Restrike?

Hi Guys,

I've been chasing a 1st Armoured Motor Battery for a while now and have the opportunity to acquire this one.

However given the lack of a maker's name on the back (I would expect to see 'J&Co') and that it isn't the sharpest strike on the back I would assume it's a copy/restrike?

Seeking some opinions before I splash out the cash.

Regards,

Mick

Not an expert on these and would do as you're doing by asking, but looks a fine badge I like that it has "D" lugs but if they can fake a badge a couple of lugs isn't going to cause problems, depends where you found it and cost! But how it feels in the hand and natural light, good luck and hope its a good one! Billy

Hi Billy,

Thanks mate. What concerns me is the striking on the back and the lack of a maker's name. Does anyone know if there are authentic versions without a maker's name?

Mick

Nice badge, I’d certainly buy it.

The J&Co one is also very nice indeed and if an OR example very unusual to be maker marked in that way by that company.

Did officers wear the same pattern? If so I’d be inclined to believe from the mark and maker it’s an officer’s badge which has potentially lost its finish.
