I remember a well known dealer saying to me as he flicked the bottom of the slider on the Gaunt lettered one with his thumbnail , " you can tell a genuine one. solid that. why repro a common badge ? " . indeed. this was in the early eighties.
another observation, it would seem the reproduction of the standard white metal type, either with slider or lugs, has a voided crown. a nod and a wink towards the proper silver version ? for reference purposes one example of dubious pedigree and three believed to be of the period, cast silver with three lugs, white metal, two lugs and nickel plated brass, two lugs.

Good Thread, I think a distinction should be made between the voided crown and unvoided crown AAC badges, real or fake.

Rgds,

Thomas.

3 examples of the fake non-voided crown. All currently available on ebay. This pattern has a distinctive notch at the bottom of the eagle's tail.
Also the rounded beak.

I don't want to start another thread on this topic.
Can anybody give me any thoughts on this one please? I've had it for over thirty years.
Many thanks,
Phil

The notch at the bottom of the eagle's tail tells me it is a replica.
