Royal Navy Graves
A couple of before and afters for two RN war graves - that I've been meaning to tackle for some time. The first with the Commonwealth War Grave Commision Headstone is to Chief Petty Officer John Chadwick - HMS Proserpine 20th May 1943. I believe HMS Proserpine was a shore station at Scapa Flow - I'm not sure how he died. The second is to Telegraphist Eric Ladd - 25yrs old -HMS Minster who died on 8th June 1944 (D Day +2). What I've been able to find out is that HMS Minster was sunk having struck a mine - near Utah beach. There were some survivors but most of the crew were killed (at least 53 casualties) - 10 bodies were recovered and subsequently buried (including Eric) - HMS Minster is considered a war grave and protected as such.

Well done , looks the part , I’ve got my name down with CWGC to do the same thing after reading your first post on this as it’s something I’d like to do, just waiting on an area closer to me to come up.

Good to hear Gerard. There are still quite a lot of areas that are "not allocated" and others that are over subscribed - but if any members are interested in the scheme then please go to:https://www.cwgc.org/our-work/projec...s-on-hands-on/
