Default Royal Horse Guards collar or just a fake?

This badge came as part of a job jot and I suspect that it a fake but, as I can find nothing about non voided Royal Horse Guards badges, I am asking for confirmation. Your thoughts please.

Well it's not a collar - as far as I know the Royal Horse Guards have never worn collar badges

Cool Royal Horse Guards

Just to add my thoughts, the "v" hangs away from the "R" and I think this is a badge that has not been voided or pierced.

Possibly made on a friday afternoon when quality control was still at lunch

So it must be the super rare, unvoided, 1916 Economy Issue of which I have the only known example.

Cool 1916 Economy Issue?

Well, the cypher fits the bill for the timespan, maybe made as a trial pattern and rejected.

Thank you all for your input which has confirmed my suspicions. I am still pleased with the job lot despite it having a dud in it.

Simon.
