Second badge might possibly have had the scroll removed to represent the cap badge of Hymer's College, Hull OTC (K&K 2579) although this is illustrated in K&K as a blunter star!
Nonetheless as slider is marked J.R.GAUNT B'HAM is still a 1970s restrike type. Tim

The Gaunt Bham mark does not match the years of use.
Hymers Cadet Corps was affiliated to the East Yorkshire cap in 1902 and wore the slouch hat. The photo has a EY VB poster in the background. The website describes it as 1920's but I think this is an error as it is likely to be 1905-10 judging by the VB poster , slouch hats etc. The school magazine records that the Cadets were issued brass OTC 'shoulder-plates' in late 1908 where as the VB style of cloth shoulder patches can be seen in the photo. At some point they used the rose without the scroll as an OTC as shown from this 1925 summer camp. At some point after 1938 (I assume in WW2) they returned to the East Yorkshires cap badges. The Hymers College CCF forsook their brass East Yorskshire caps in 1969 for the a/a Yorkshire Brigade cap badge. The CCF was closed in 1977 when the last CO retired. It was re-raised in 1992 as an ACF. The screenshorts are from larger photos: http://hymerscollege.daisy.websds.ne...ta_photographs Last edited by Alan O; 03-01-23 at 09:23 AM. |

Hopefully this may gave a sense of scale with what hopefully is a Hymers OTC badge on the right.

I can only believe that it was for reasons of cost that Hymers did not replace the EY scroll with one of their own. This suggests to me that they may have removed the scroll s of EY badges rather than had bespoke ones made
