Smile Senior Australian Officers of the Boer War

A Gale and Polden photograph (23x18cm) in a nice frame I bought on last trip to the UK.

It states that all of these Officers of various units have seen active service for the Empire - presume Boer War There is a quote from the Federal Premier - so post-Federation - 2nd Boer War.

Some interesting medals shown - QSA and KSA pairs with multiple clasps, gallantry decorations and LS&GC. Early Rising Sun badges and a helmet plate or two on white pith helmets. Engineer or artillery grenade badge and naval - slouch hats.

Will leave this as some fun for others to identify medals and badges. Are some of these these Coronation medals or Colonial Service medals?

Cheers Dean

I can't make out the details of the Aussies but at a guess they probably are the commanders of the various state contingents?

Agree Mick,

Yes will look up some photos of such as will be in a reference book I have a couple - large two volumes of The South African War from Army & Navy Illustrated and some Colonials in there. Their age makes them fit.

Rain at last so am inside badging, cheers Dean

Hi Dean

All the guys wearing slouch hats are turned up on the left so no Vics there, 2 have emu plumes so I expect that they are Qld'ers.

Cheers

Phil.
