Default Anodized trade badges

When did anodised trade badges cease to be worn?

Where necessary the Household Cavalry and The King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery still wear them.

Grumpy, unlike us there are a lot of collectors who class all badges worn on the sleeve as 'trade' badges, even if they are really skill, or appointment badges.

You misunderstand me: I accept "trade" as a portmanteau noun, but I wondered which ones ........ we don't see too many in wear these days, regardless of the order of dress.

Here is what is shown available in JSP768 2010 amended to 2013. Obviously some anachronisms but generally badges for King's Troop RHA on No2 Dress and Bugler, Drummer, Piper, Trumpeter and Musicians badges for No3 Dress.

I have not included anodised miniature badges worn with rank badges on leather wrist straps.

I can't place a requirement for Light Infantry Pipe Majors badges and Piper's badges. Which unit / units would wear these please?

Leigh,
You would need to ask the authors in the MOD! But JSP768 has many mysteries often as a result of 'cut and paste' errors in a document that is not compiled by (or for) badge collectors or military historians! For example continuing references to the Light Infantry who disappeared into the Rifles in 2007.

Ta, I was just wondering whether there were obscure units I'd never heard of keeping alive some traditions.

Default HAC Drummers

I think I remember a conversation around 1982ish about possibly changing our a/a No.2 Dress drums from brass to silver, nothing came of it. No.2 dress was the only order of dress we wore the A/A appointment badge, all other orders of dress used embroidered drums

Sorry.

Unfortunately any new dress regulations have been out of date before they have been published, and they seem to be constantly changing.
