Industrial ARP Badges
As anyone who collects Home Front lapel badges there are large numbers of them which were issued by industrial companies - by law any company employing more then 50 people had to have an ARP organisation - but which defy identification as they only use the company initials.
The sharp eyes of a member of the Military Heraldry Society have solved one mystery however. The attached badge appears in my book Doing Their Bit as probably associated with the Home Guard of a local Gas Supply Company. Thanks to a copy of a 1930s magazine published in Stourbridge this can now be identified as belonging to the Dudley, Brierley Hill and District Gas Company as the badge's design features elements from the logo of the company printed at the foot of the advertisement. Can anyone solve any of the other unidentified badges - TF 56 to 75 in the book? (Since publication T62 has been identified as Aeronautical and General Instruments, during the war based in Croydon).
