East Surrey Badges , buttons etc
Sent this by a senior Indian army collector (not in the forum) who got these from a frame belonging to an officer from Victorian/Edwardian era who had apparently served in an Indian Army Regiment, the large frame had primarily badges and insignia to an Indian Army regiment but also included these ( see frame) to the East Surrey Regiment, the silver/gilt/ red enamel helmet badge approx 6 cm high. The collare appear to be in silver. The officer had apparently served in the East Surrey Regt before transferring to an Indian Regt. Since he does not collect to the British Army and has no knowledge about their badges,( he collects only to the Indian Army), he has requested info on the period of wear regarding these badges, collars , buttons, in order to trace the name of the officer, can a Museum which houses records of the former E Surrey Regt help, if so any contacts are helpful ?, also if a trade is possible, he is looking for Victorian period Indian Army items in lieu . Thank for any information and help. see attachment for the image

I believe the East Surrey Regiment collection was part of the Surrey Infantry Museum collection at Clandon Park near Guildford, Surrey. Unfortunately most of the collection was lost in a fire at the house in April 2015. Some archive material housed elsewhere is available.
