Hello All,

FYI, the following link refers to an eBay auction which closed last night. Somebody with a fat wallet picked up some beautiful & scarce badges, closing at $2,265.23 CAD, $1,683.75 USD:

https://www.ebay.ca/itm/1939-45-WW2-...orig_cvip=true

Another eBay listing for a Can Para Corps officers' Scully marked cap badge closed at $1,246.86 CAD, $929.79 USD:

The rare ones are still out there! Cheers,

Walt

In the first one can you tell me why it would command that kind of money?

The items driving the price in the first auction were the Canadian Parachute Corps officer's collar badges, and the FSSF "CANADA" collar disc.

Ok and he would be bumped up by other bidders.
Photos didn't do the items justice if they're that rare so I searched for them to try and find better photos and there's someone else selling a pair as a 'buy it now.' And photos of the backs. Don't know if they're genuine because I know nothing about Canadian items.

Hello Akiko,

The rarities in this lot are the the original pair of Canadian Parachute Corps officers' collar badges (silver cloud, EX COELIS inscription, gilt hand holding a downward silver dagger). These are quite scarce, and are seldom offered for sale.

The huge attraction are 2 other badges attributed to the WWII First Special Service Force. This was a combined Canada/USA elite commando unit which was known as the Devil's Brigade. These are the 2 circular brass dress uniform collar badges, one with a CANADA overlay, the other with stamped crossed arrows. There are many repros on the open market, however, authentic insignia are extremely hard to find. Cheers,

Walt
