Default Royal Fusiliers

Here is the QC anodised Royal Fusiliers - maker marked H.W.TIMINGS LTD B'HAM Pattern No 16706 CB 7478 Sealed 06/05/55

Note the longer flame on the left as viewed - presumably used in the design of the Brigade badge?

Tim

A nice badge Tim.
I agree, the flame pattern is very similar to badge two on my OP.
Maybe this was the first pattern?
I wonder if there are any other sealed pattern cards for the Fusilier Brigade out there.

The sealed pattern is a bit over the top price wise.

There was a.trial pattern pattern for the Fusiliers Brigade, before the R.Warwicks were moved over.
Made by Gaunts, fitted with looped lugs east and west.

Thank you Mike.
This is a supurb addition to the thread.
Interesting that it's made in bi metal.
The centre of the badge is a bit cluttered for my liking, I'm glad they went for what they did.
May I ask where you found this picture, or do you own this lovely item?
Cheers again, much appreciated
Chris

The trial pattern Fus Bde badge sounded a strange design, now I see it yes, the current Fus Bde / RRF Badge has its critics but that one really doesn't look right.
The grenade itself reminds me of older Victorian era officers badges, is it of officer's quality? If so, I wonder if the OR's pattern was the current pattern?
Interesting that St George faces to the right.

Edit - I forgot to mention - wonder why the Grenadierr Guards pattern grenade was used - simpy an economy?

I believe its the Officers pattern, its been put away for a long time and not touched. The owners told me that he was informed that there is an anodised version for ORs. Never seen one . If its anything like the Royal Devon Yeomanry Rifle Volunteers badge ,there maybe 6 samples made.

Gents, I'll post some other bits when Im home, but found I had these images on my phone. The odd 'one piece' collar badge and for comparison sake, my examples with the small tab on the rear.

Regards all

Just a thought there's a flat area to the top of the garter, something removed?
Are the garter and the emblems it contains made in one piece or separately?
Any chance the badge is a cobbled together fantasy piece?

Doubt was cast over the validity of Gaunt sample cards in this thread:

Gents, at the risk of posting multiple individual badge photos ( it's possible to get a little snow blind when examining multiple badges of the same design), for interests sake and addition to this very interesting thread, attached my Fusilier Bde types and for completeness the badges that seguay into the fine Royal Regiment of Fusiliers.

In addition to these I've added my Royal Fusiliers badges, which until Tim posted his images, it never occurred to me it's the same generic grenade and flames.

I have a round wire badge which has thicker north/south blades and not a rivet. I did consider it a repaired badge ( i.e. once had a rivet) - but no, never had a rivet, no scratch marks where a later bladed St George was added. Additionally - and it isn't clear on photos - the port in the grenade actually looks square not a round hole.

Regards all

Bess

Additionally, is this one of those Birmingham Mint badges? It's anodised alluminium.

Not from the Birmingham Mint set which were not anodised.

If collar badge size it is current issue with clutch pins for FAD

Not from the Danbury Mint set which were anodised but with blades (see photos).
