3rd Reich Anti Partisan Badge
Hi guys, I've been asked to post this badge for a buddy. I do NOT collect this stuff but hope someone in the forum knows something about these. I realize that the best place is the WAF but my posting rights have expired and I'm too cheap pay the fee to have them reinstated.
This is a bronze Anti-Partisan badge for the Heer/SS. The material is bronze wash over zinc. I told him if it were good (fat chance!!), it would be worth about 1000.00 but I also warned him that he had a better chance of winning the lottery that finding a anything original in Nazi stuff. Well guys, I'm pretty sure it's a fake. I've just read 40 of 121 posts on these badges. My buddy's badge is the only one with a 21 on the pin. It has to be a fake and I'll let me know, but I warned him.

Bad luck for your mate. There's some around on a site not as big as the nasty
site. I did see a genuine badge that was up for sale for US$2100 some months back. Not bad if you have the spare money. Regards_Max |

Hi Guys,
Thats a 1957 varient hinge on that there badge. Also, anti partisan badges were all zink and had a cheap coloured was applied which acted as the bronze, silver or gold colour. As zink repelled the finish over time it is extreamly rare to be find one left with any wash on at all. Regards Chris PS There is plenty of really good genuine TR items out there sold by reputable dealers. |

Don't believe you could get a 1957 variant of this badge either as it was considered mainly an SS award and as such like political ones was not felt ok to re-issue, although there was no law (as long as you removed the swastika) against you wearing it if you'd won it.

Thanks for the comments guys, I'm sure my buddy wont be too upset. It appears that the one in the photos is a Eastern European fake of average quality. The LDO number is give away which might have fooled a collector prior to the Internet and several books on the subject.

I also have one in my collection
It was given to me years ago at one of my displays with some other German chest awards. They were supposedly brought here by a Brit migrant who fought in Europe during WWll I will get it out and have a good look at it. I must admit though that, because there are so many fakes about (even in the 1960s) that I automatically assume that most (but not all) of my German stuff is sus. I am sure that all of my other badges and medals are genuine but, as I have previously posted, I have reservations about the German items. From memory I recall (but could be wrong as I have not sighted it for about 20 years) that it is quite heavy and the metal has a redish/copperish tinge to it Last edited by sarmajor; 03-09-08 at 04:43 PM. |

No worries Greg.
A lot of fakes were made with those 1957 issue hinges and pins so learn what they look like and you will be one step ahead. Regards Chris |

Indeed a controversial badge but the Bandenkampfabzeichen was issued in a 1957 variant. Same design, just the swastika removed.
It was an award available to all ranks of SS, Army, Air Force, Navy and foreign pro-German forces engaged in Ant-Partisan activities. Not a great picture but attached is a bronze version I have (not '57). |
