Black Watch cap badge

Hi to all,

Any reason why this KC Black Watch Royal Highland Regiment of Canada cap badge obverse is not white like its reverse? The badge measures 62mm by 80mm. Thanking you all in advance and hoping to hear from some of you very soon.
