Lesney Made 'Anodised' Cap Badges
Hi Guys,
Attached is an example of a Lesney made die cast cap badge - thanks to the trader here on the forum!!! I know an example of the Black Watch was also made by Lesney in this die cast style but were there any others? Regards Chris |

Strange coincidence
I today found the attached with a number of RM bits I bought. Totally mystified I thought it might be an original A/A cap badge converted to sweetheart and the pin broken off. Looking at it the pin housing is identical to your picture with the little lugs across the middle. I now presume it to be a fourth in your Lesney identification parade - what do you think? The only memory I have of Lesney was I think toy cars. Were these a collecting set for kids or something? -- Ray

Yes, it looks like another to add for the list. They appear to be part of a collecting set but would like more info to confirm if possible - did they come with a display medium? The Danbury Mint and Texaco petrol items made up collecting sets so it it probable that these we manufactured as the same. Regards Chris Last edited by hagwalther; 15-01-09 at 11:05 PM. |

My distant memories of childhood suggest that Lesney were the original manufacturers of the Matchbox model car series, but I could be mistaken.

Was bored and decided to do a little hunting online, you can piece together quite a bit.
I found these 3 hits in a minute or so http://www.blue-gold-angel.com/index...l.com/oben.php fing the tab "Gifts by Lesney" on the left hand menu and scroll down. http://www.vectisdirect.co.uk/matchb...&category_id=0 http://www.liveauctioneers.com/item/2371863 |

Ebay time
Maybe I'll list it on Ebay as "extremely rare silver plated Royal Marine sweetheart brooch from Falklands war hero"
On second thoughts - know anybody who wants a broken toy badge? |

Old, old thread but because I found these I'll post them.
I think that these are the only ones I have on their cards, I have a few more of these "badges" but they'll probably be duplicates and goodness knows where they are. |

I bought the Royal Marines one when I was about 12 in the 1980's at the Royal Tournament.

About 15 years ago I bought a RM blue beret with the Lesney RM pinned to the red tombstone, cost about 50p.
I put the Lesney badge being worn down to one of the local cadet unit using a make do replacement. |
