Solihull School CCF - Hackle?
Did/do Solihull School wear a hackle?
Just added this anodised one to the collection and there is a fitting to the rear found on fusiliers badges for the fitment of a feather hackle? Many thanks Andy |

Interesting Andy, wonder of they wear the Warwickshire Fusiliers hackle, I think that was orange and blue if memory serves me right.
Cheers Tony.

Tony,
that was my line of thinking too, although I suspect they dispensed with the wearing of the school badge some time ago? Andy |

I have a June 2000 copy of The Fusilier the Journal of the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers that lists the CCF at Solihull School as affiliated to the regiment.

if in fact they did wear a hackle it would date from post 1963 when the Royal Warwickshire REGIMENT were first designated Fusiliers.

I was going to say,its a Fusiliers red over white hackle that is worn today. But i dont know if the blue and orange Warwickshire hackle was worn prior to the Fusiliers coming into being.

What determines who wears the hackle as there are some cadets with it and some without.

Have you noticed the three 'cadets' wearing the hackle are also wearing coloured stable belts, I notice one of them has a large crown on his right arm, one is a Corporal and the other I can't make out, possibly the hackle is a rank embellishment ? Cheers Tony.

The hackle is only worn by the NCO's and Adult instructors, and has always been the RRF hackle.
I asked the school CCF Instructor. Marc |

Marc,
Excellent bit of confirmed infomation, going back to Andy`s badge which started this thread, do all the Solihull School CCF badges have the fitting for the hackle or is Andy`s badge an NCO/Instructors example ? P.B.
