Default Royal Air Force 100th Anniversary

I thought I would post this humble RAF badge today as a tribute to an uncle of mine who served as a Sergeant vehicle fitter in the middle east during the second world war, his name was Trevor Smith and this was the badge he wore.

Does anyone else have a family RAF item to share?

Rob

A piece of nose art from the 141 Squadron Beaufighter flown by my grandmother's brother, F/L AD Meredith, AFC, AE. He joined the RAFVR in 1938 and flew in the Battle of Britain with 242 and 141 Squadrons, flying Hurricanes, Defiants and Beaufighters.
Other family members who served in the RAF were my dad's cousins Ray Herring and John Herring, mom's uncle Darwin West and my mom's grandfather A Meredith who served in the RFC/RAF in the 1914-18 War.

A few items to remember my late father who joined the TA Royal Artillery just before WW2, was mobilised while at annual camp in September 1939 and after serving on AA duties at Duxford during the Battle of Britain decided to transfer to the RAF. Trained in Canada as an Observer he served with Coastal Command in Iceland, the UK and South Africa being commissioned in 1944.

The station crest of RAF Saxa Vord, Unst, Shetland, where I spent the happiest year of my adult life as a radar mechanic fresh from Locking 1978-79. I have wished many times that I could have stayed there but it was not to be.
