Default British Forces in Aden during the XIX Century

While searching about the Aden Protectorate, I found out about two military units mantained by the british there: the "Aden Levy" and the "Aden Police". Does anyone knows which were their uniforms? Also, was there any other native unit serving in Aden during this century?

Default Aden

Hi Abadu,
There is a book on this very subject called:
The Armed Forces of Aden 1839 to 1967
by Cliff Lord and David Birtles and published by Helion in UK.
The book lists most of the local units raised in Aden during the British period and also gives an overview of the British and Indian Regiments and Corps that served there. Mainly though the book is focused on the local forces raised there. The work includes unit histories and many photographs including the badges and insigna. A major rewrite of the book is with Helion Publishing now which should have come out last year but has been delayed by the publisher. Latest is that it should be out in June or there abouts. The new book includes a lot more on the units and detail and photos from Sultan Ghalib in the Hadhramaut, and more info from the archives in London. Also there are 21 coloured illustrations of uniforms over the years. Some quite exotic such as the Sultans Guard in Qu'aiti State, which were armed in the last years with SLRs!
