I don't think that I've ever seen one of those, Jerry, but, then I doubt if I've ever looked, simple badges are often the most pleasing, very nice.

Default Huntingdonshire OSD

Here’s a new one.

Listed on Minden Militaria a bronze OSD Huntingdonshire Cyclists. The badge matches the die the ORs version is from. This one also has Lambourne marked blades which are visible when the picture is significantly brightened.

Interesting ! I didn't know Lambourne made officers' badges too.
Firmin also used the same design for their officer and OR badges (not the same does because there are often different metals used). Gaunt, for example differed their offr / OR badges though they caught up in the 1920s - using the same design.
Nice badge - I've never seen a maker's stamp on a blade!

The messy bit on the back of the scroll suggests a fake lost wax badge, possibly out of Romania. Dodgy imo

I hope not.......

The mark is the "LAMBOURNE S" (gap with no apostrophe) variation.

I don’t think it’s either of those things.

The Lambourne Hunts badge is very distinctive and very, very rare. I’ve only ever seen one OR marked example (in Phil’s album). That a faker would’ve managed to acquire such a rare badge from the correct die I highly doubt.

So quite the opposite for me, this badge actually gives me confidence the OSDs with Lambourne marked tangs are in fact genuine.

Plus remember re quality of reverse... it is Lambourne after all, they rarely got the front right!

Yes, not a unit I particularly collect but I thought I'd go for it as it's my "county" regiment and I'd not seen one for sale before.
I'd noted the blob at the base of the scroll but I'm sure I have other OSD badges that I've had for decades and that I'm happy are genuine eg RA, which have similar.

I'm more than "happy" for any opinions for or against - better to know if it is bad.

Superb thread Luke, thanks for starting it. I will try and catch up a bit when I get the time. In the meantime, I still believe that they produced a Machine Gun Corps cap badge. Unfortunately the only image that I have (I think I showed it to you Luke?) is a grainy image taken from an ebay listing which is inconclusive to say the least.

Hello mate, nice to see you posting.

Thank you, not a bad pick up from a random stop at a random shop on the way home from Bromley Fair 😂

You mean this one?

Lambourne also used two different types shanks. The second image is often described as being "clipped", but that is how it was made and is also thinner than the one shown in the first image.
