Thanks for your response. I have a zamak version of the San Marco Infantry badge which does look similar to this one. The San Marco marines badge looks a bit different again! I had wondered if number 8 was an early version of 50th independent infantry brigade. Do you know that the marines had a cloth version like number 8?

With regards to the San Marco badge having a cloth sleeve version I have found this picture. It is not a perfect match to number 8 but nevertheless the nearest I can find.

I have found number 9 offered in Bosleys Auction Catalogue for April 23rd 2003 as Lot 600 A South African Formation sign. Could anyone tell me more about the exact regiment?

Also could number 20 be a variation of the 29th Infantry brigade sign?

No 9 looks like the SA volunteers with the Dutch Princes Irene brigade, but then reversed.

Many thanks for the message. Yes it does look very like the WW2 Free Dutch Army Volunteers from South Africa. One sold online about 5 years ago. It does indeed face the opposite way although it is not quite identical in other ways.

Just to say that Fearnaught has solved number 11. It is pre Castro Cuban cavalry. Also I have managed to find number 7. It is an Indian Army Karnataka Kerala and Goa sub area div sign.

Number 12 is a Regimental shoulder flash of the 1st Buckinghamshire Battalion used in the 1940s.

Number 6 looks like a Royal Military Police heraldic badge? Needs additional checking.

Also is it possible to have a better image of Number 5? I think the coat of arms is key to IDing the badge.
