Error/Fake Royal Scots Fusiliers Cap Badge?

I bought this Royal Scots Fusiliers badge recently and I was wondering if it is a error or a fake. The reason I am wondering is that the motto reads "DIET ET MON DROIT" instead of "DIEU ET MON DROIT." Also, there are vertical lines running vertically down from the top of the badge that are reminiscent of a die crack on coins. Thank you for any help.
