Hi Eddy
I think you may be over simplifying the distinction between Bomb Disposal and EOD in the British service. It was certainly the case when I was serving that with regards to the army the royal Engineers and RAOC both had EOD units (' Bomb Disposal' just being another name for this ), The RE being responsible, in this country, for air dropped munitions from WW2 and the the RAOC which is now RLC being responsible for terrorist IEDDs and all the other bits of stuff, grenades, shells etc dug up and found being dealt with by the nearest available team whether this be RE RAOC RAF or Navy. With regards to Badges RAOC/RLC EOD is a trade badge - Ammunition Technician The Engineers wore the 'bomb' Cheers Pete (Ex Ammo Tech) |

A late addition to this thread.
This patch exists in at least two variations. Best regards, Andrew |

The EOD badge should be worn nose down on the left sleeve only, in jackets and jumpers, left cuff, in shirt sleeve upper left arm, we started to make subdued ones in the late 1980's as the red ones were too bright when on operations, although initiallt they were locally made. in the late 1980's they formed a Para/Commando/Diver EOD Troop, I was a founder member, in this picture I wear the Bomb on a period para smock.
